Friday Faceoff: Formal Dining Rooms
It’s time for Friday Faceoff, where we put two home features head to head and see which you prefer. This week we’re featuring formal dining rooms.
The first dining room is from the NC State University Chancellor’s Residence. The Chancellor’s Residence is a newer home with a view of Lake Raleigh on NC State’s Centennial Campus. The dining room, like the rest of the home, is elegant without being ornate. It features furnishings with contemporary lines that still give off a sophisticated vibe:
For the second dining room, I really wanted to find a picture of the UNC or Duke Chancellor’s home’s formal dining room, but instead decided to make this Faceoff about modern vs. classic. The second dining room is decorated in an ultra-Southern style, with always-popular plaid upholstery, a heavily-detailed chandelier, and classic motifs in the artwork:
So which is more your style? I’m a Tarheel fan but I’m not too proud to say that the Chancellor’s Residence is stunning. But there’s something warm and inviting about the classic Southern Living style of the second dining room. What do you think?
